Showcased at the 2019 London Motor Show

MG's first full-electric model, the eZS EV, has made its UK public debut at the 2019 London motor show, where it is on display for interested punters to examine until May 19. MG bosses claim the eZS SUV has already had more than 800 'expressions of interest' from buyers – the most the brand has ever had in the UK.
A rival to the Kia Soul EV in that market, the MG eZS was first revealed at the Guangzhou motor show in China last year, and will be sold alongside the existing MG ZS petrol versions.
While specifications have yet to be confirmed, the UK-bound ZS EV is expected to use the same front-mounted 150hp electric motor as the model sold in China.
The car's lithium-ion battery will reportedly be good for a 431km range on the old NEDC test cycle, and MG says it can achieve an 80 percent charge in as little as 30min. As a guide, the WLTP range of the Nissan Leaf is 28.5 percent lower than its NEDC range; the same reduction would put the ZS EV at 309km.

GMC Trucks to Deploy Adaptive Cruise Control System

GMC Trucks🚙 to Deploy Adaptive Cruise💨 Control System

Automaker General Motors Co's truck brand GMC said on Friday its 2020 Sierra large pickup trucks will have an adaptive cruise control system, in a push to catch up with its rivals.
Adaptive cruise control system allows trucks to automatically adjust speed to maintain a set distance behind the vehicle ahead.
It features a single high-mounted camera behind the rear view mirror and can bring the Sierra to a complete stop.
The battle for share in the high-paying large-pickup truck market is intensifying and already a few General Motors' rivals offer this type of system.
The addition of the cruise control system is a sign that General Motors is moving to close gaps with rivals, particularly with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV's new Ram pickup truck, which has been gaining market share this year.

'Battery🔋 Supply for the Upcoming Decade'

Overnight Volvo Cars inked a long term multi-billion dollar lithium-ion battery supply deal with LG Chem and CATL, an important step in meeting its lofty electrification goals.
Last year Volvo said it was aiming to have half of its sales be fully electric cars by 2025, easily trumping its earlier commitments.
Håkan Samuelsson, CEO of Volvo Cars, says the automaker is "firmly committed to moving beyond the internal combustion engine" and today's agreements show "how we will reach our ambitious electrification targets".
Martina Buchhauser, head of procurement at Volvo, believes the deals have "effectively secured our battery supply for the upcoming decade".

Asus WebStorage Cloud Backup Update Service Used to Install Malware on Users’ PCs,

Security researchers at Eset have reported that Asus' online WebStorage cloud service has been used to distribute malware thanks to a security flaw in the desktop client's automatic updater. By exploiting an insecure HTTP connection and faulty code signing checks, attackers were able to distribute and execute software that installs a backdoor known as Plead on affected computers. The Plead malware is a simple backdoor that infects PCs and then downloads additional malware, which is added to the Windows startup routine so that it is executed every time the infected PC is booted up.
According to Eset, the malware was discovered on computers in Taiwan belonging to its clients, and the issue could be far more widespread. Beginning in April, the company started detecting infected files being downloaded automatically onto PCs by the Asus WebStorage updater, which is a legitimate Windows background service. The attackers were able to trick the software into downloading the malware from a compromised Taiwanese government server rather than a genuine update from Asus's own servers. Asus' software was not verifying the digital signatures of the updates it received, according to Eset reseracher Anton Cherepanov.
Eset says it notified Asus about the issue before going public with the information. In response, Asus has published a notice on its WebStorage site, saying it shut down the WebStorage update server as a precaution, and has since implemented new security measures, but recommends that users run their own virus scans immediately to be sure that they are safe.

Tesla's Autopilot Engaged in Fatal Florida Crash, Finds NTSB

Tesla's "Autopilot" system was engaged by a driver who was killed in a March crash in Florida, according to an initial accident report released Thursday."
Preliminary data showed the Tesla driver engaged "Autopilot" about 10 seconds before the crash and that the device was active at the time the vehicle was struck by a truck-tractor semitrailer, the National Transportation Safety Board said.
The accident, the latest involving Autopilot, left the Tesla driver, a 50-year-old male dead and the combination vehicle driver uninjured.
The report did not conclude who was at fault for the crash.
Tesla's website describes Autopilot as an "advanced driver system" that enhances safety with external cameras, sensors and a radar but demands a "fully attentive driver" at all times.
The accident occurred after the Tesla careened into the combination vehicle on a southbound highway, which was slowing as it shifted highway lanes in preparation to turn into the northbound lane.
The Tesla was travelling about 68 miles (110 kilometres) per hour, 13 miles above the speed limit, the NTSB said.
